Rivers and Streams
Streams and rivers start at high points, such as hills, mountains, and other high elevated areas. They only cover about 0.2% of the fresh water on Earth. Rivers and streams have high oxygen levels and clean water at the source. The temperatures are cooler at the sources as well, rather than at the mouth. Near the mouth, the water is murky, there is less flora diversity, and the oxygen levels are lower. The water in streams and rivers move in one direction, and the width and species diversity of the river and or stream increases near the middle. Later on, the water from rivers or streams will run into the ocean, lakes, or any inland body of water.
